SURFERS LONGBOARD SHOP – JAPAN

SKEG RANT

I don’t know about the term “D fin”, what the hell is that?  Why do I get uneasy whenever I here it?

Maybe the same reason that I resist when one of my old surf spots gets discovered and renamed.  ie: “PDF”, “Heavens”.

We had Skegs.  When the raked fin came out we called them “Speed Skegs”  for a short time.  Then the term “fins” became the norm since it best described the new design.

“D Fin”?  Am I alone here?  Maybe just old and stubborn.

So here’s some  Big Ass Fins, Skegs, or D Fins, whatever you want  to call them -

FLEXPIG FIN TESTING

Raked fin on Flexpig good.   Finboxes on Flexpig no problem.

And another Ricefin…..

FLEXPIG FLYER

FLEXPIG PRICE ADJUSTMENT

We’ve made a quite a few of these Blackboard Flexpigs and now I have geared the shop to build them more efficiently.  Initially working with this foam, the stringerless blanks, this resin, and glass was a bit of a challenge and limiting out production which is why the price was $1600.

Now that we’ve got it dialed I have dropped the price to pass on the savings.  The last batch were delivered with this price adjustment and I’m in touch with those that got the first run to make sure that the first Flexpig customers don’t feel slighted.

At the same time I raised the price of the Ricefin option since I now know how long each panel takes me to build.

NEW FLEXPIG PRICELIST

COOPERFISH BLACKBOARD “FLEXPIG”

“RICE FIN” add $200

Originally conceived with the idea of making a pig that has the feel of balsa(with a dense core and a lighter shell), and flex to give it more life and some noseriding advantage, the Flexpig has met and exceeded my expectations.  I believe that this is a very unique product and I’m super happy about the reception I’ve gotten from Flexpig riders. I’m looking forward to concentrating on building these boards along with the Speedhulls.  You’ll find that the wait time on both of these models will be greatly reduced in the near future.

All my older models are still available thru Cooperdesigns.  Once I finish my current list of orders I’ll only  be doing the fancy Cooperfish stuff for shows, projects, or  special editions.  -Thx, Gene
