I spent several hours last weekend talking with Marc Andreni at Sacred Craft and at the Jazz showing. As a board builder Marc has it all, he’s been a building hulls, pigs, classic guns, etc, for years and is one of our sports great craftsmen. He’s friendly, thoughtful, and extremely humble. I’m a big fan of Marc Andreni and his shapes.
I stole this photo so I’d better link the source: Seahuggers
Here’s my neighbor Tom with Steve Pezman at the Sacred Craft “Antiques Road Show” yesterday. Tom brought a very very cheap Hollywood Beach garage find with him. A balsa Yater pig from the late 50’s
This is about as rare as it gets.
It’s the “Renny Show” at the Ventura Fairgrounds this weekend and everyone turned out to honor the master in grand fashion.
Here comes the April auction.
April is the only month that the auction board doesn’t correspond with the Calendar shot. The board in Jayd’s Rocker Stick shot(April) was sold before we took the pic. The board that’s up this month is the 3rd of 4 from the Logoless series featured with Tiff last month.
The BLACKBOARD’s shape is based on boards right out of the mid to late 50’s, pig ground zero.
The FOIL III is the 1967 version, foiled and finned late 60’s style. I used to call these “Australian Foils” (because it was loosely based on by “SAM” and others like it ) until I found that Bing had a model of the same name in the 60’s. This prompted the name change.
I know the BLACKBOARD’s pure 50’s shape isn’t for everybody and I thought bringing this model back might be a good idea to give customers an option.
Here’s photoman extrordinare Seth de Roulet with a his FOIL III
